That’s because for years, the only job associated with freelance was in the written word.
But that was then and this is now and the and the term freelance applies to many different areas of expertise. Photographers, software designers, medical billing specialists, scientific researchers and many more are now freelancers.

Being our own boss is certainly what we all strive to be, but we have to first decide if we have the drive and dedication that it takes to be our own boss. Most of us, sadly enough don’t.
Questions we need to ask ourselves are things like What makes me special in the world of freelancing? Is my skill set large enough to make me stand out? Do I have the time management skills it takes to disciplined and meet deadlines?
If you answered yes to these questions and you’re ready to jump into your freelance business, one word of caution to adhere to is don’t quit you 9-5 job yet. Start out slow and maybe take on some part-time freelance jobs first to see how it goes.
Eventually you will work yourself into more full time jobs that come with higher pay.
Some of the most highly marketable freelance jobs today are software design, article writing, graphics design, drafting, architecture, and editing photography. If you have skills in fields like these, you could find yourself sitting on a goldmine.
